Indianapolis Colts’ RB Joseph Addai out for several weeks
Indianapolis Colts running-back Joseph Addai is expected to be sidelined several weeks with a shoulder injury according to NFL.com on Thursday. Considered as an elusive and finesse runner rather than
a bruiser, Addai has been regarded as injury prone and has battled nagging injuries throughout the course of his career, with staying healthy always a concern.
The Colts' star running-back sustained the injury in week six after Washington Redskin’s linebacker London Fletcher delivered a legal hit as Addai was fighting for extra yards in the Colts’ 27-24 win on
Sunday night.
After the game, Addai tried to down play the injury.
“Nothing torn or anything. It's just the nerve. That's the biggest thing, that and getting the strength back. It could come back any time between now and four or five weeks. ... it's just dead and needs
to wake up," he said at the time.
With the 4-2 Colts on their bye week, a banged-up Addai is going to get a second opinion on the shoulder injury. "We don’t place any time limits on him and we’ll see when he comes back. He’s a pretty quick
healer," coach Jim Caldwell said.
Prior to his injury, Addai rushed for 128 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries, and was replaced by former Michigan Wolverines’ star Mike Hart.
No word if Hart, entering his third season with Indianapolis, will get the start or if the Colts will call on the services of Donald Brown.
Addai will get some much-needed rest over the next week, but it’s certain that he won’t be active for the Colts’ rematch against the Houston Texans in week eight. The Texans handed the Colts their first
loss of the 2010 regular season, so quarterback Peyton Manning and company will have retribution on their minds.
