Indianapolis Colts WR Reggie Wayne admits cannot wait start of Andrew Luck era – NFL News
Indianapolis Colts’ veteran wide receiver Reggie Wayne cannot help hide the excitement over the opportunity of playing with rookie quarterback Andrew Luck but admits it is too early to confirm if they are on the prospects of a strong working relationship,
on and off the field, in the future.
Reggie recently had an opportunity of working with Luck in Miami as the QB took the pre-training camp off-time to make up for the missed workout and headed to South Florida to exclusively work with the Colts WR and some other players.
The WR said it was great to have that opportunity but the time was not sufficient enough to develop chemistry between them. He said the forthcoming training camp is the time to see how well they get along with each other.
He said:
“It’s going to take some time. It was only a few days, so we’ll just take it one day at a time and we’ll go from there. That’s why we have training camp. Hopefully in training camp, we can get some chemistry going and everything will be all right.”
Nevertheless, Wayne said he is relieved on signing of Luck to a four-year deal. This has confirmed the rookie for training camp, he said while admitting he had become concerned about the delay of the deal and especially over the reports of some differences.
According to the WR:
“Whenever you have your starting quarterback signed, and you know that he’s going to be there on time and everything is going to be good, it’s always a load off of our shoulders just like it is for him. I’m sure he’s excited about it, we’re excited to have
him now.”
Luck, who has signed a four-year contract with the Colts, is due to attend training camp, which the team will formally start on July 29. The players are to report about a couple of days before the date.
It will be his first formal and full training activity with the Colts since his arrival in Indianapolis. He had to head back to his college to finish remaining courses on the architect degree after the draft selection, and as per rules of the National Football
League (NFL) could not participate in any offseason programme.
