Indianapolis Colts WR Reggie Wayne aims to move out of QB Peyton Manning’s shadow – NFL News
Indianapolis Colts’ star receiver Reggie Wayne is gradually moving out of former quarterback Peyton Manning’s shadow and gaining in his old popularity and likeability among local fans.
Reggie is one of the most popular players in the National Football League (NFL) and the main reason of the strong reputation among the fans is his fun-loving personality.
Earlier, the players like him had been overshadowed by the dominating figure of Peyton Manning, and since departure of the quarterback from Indianapolis in March this year they are received in the old frame of acceptability.
The WR is now often seen busy giving autographs to the fans, mixing up with the rookies and responding queries of his seniors. Overall, he is old busy Reggie, laughing with his colleagues most of the time.
The player is also hopeful of the Colts’ prospects of turning around this season. He places his bet on the younger crop of the Colts’ players, saying they are raring to go into action and help the side to do better this year.
He said:
"Some people say we're depleted. I say we're younger and hungrier. I wanted to be here. I wanted to build this foundation to get the Colts back to the old winning ways, and we still have some OGs around here."
Reggie has recently proved that he likes the new quarterback Andrew Luck. As a matter of fact, he was a part of the Colts’ players who helped the rookie QB in a private setting in South Florida, just before training camp, to make up for the time he had lost
while being away from the team’s facilities, attending his college.
The receiver has again spoken high of the rookie after working with him at training camp during the initial few days. It appears that both players are going to have a strong working relationship, a good sign for the Colts. Their association is expected to
make them a formidable pair in the team’s offensive scheme.
Jim Irsay – the owner – is hoping that the Indianapolis Colts move far away from the past year’s miserable record, and is backing Luck and Reggie as to be the main players of his strategy for the team.
