Indianapolis Colts’ WR Reggie Wayne interested in Peyton-Wayne duo in future-NFL News
Indianapolis Colts’ wide receiver, Reggie Wayne, has not ruled the possibility of Peyton Manning-Wayne duo becoming a reality once again in future.
Wayne said that if an opportunity arose, he would be interested to play with Manning at any National Football League (NFL) team the latter might join following his release by Colts on Wednesday, March 07, 2012.
The Miami Dolphins are being rated to be the fit for the redundant quarterback and if he moves there, Reggie would like to capitalise on any opportunity of joining Dolphins.
He already spends offseason in Miami and sees a likelihood of meeting Manning at Dolphins, after having waged an impressive Manning-Wayne relationship while playing for Colts.
Reggie said:
"I could see it. I'm definitely not opposed to it, you know? He's a great worker, and I consider myself a great worker. And when you put great workers together, good things happen.”
He added:
“Me being in his trail going to Miami? I would love it. I would definitely love it. I am totally available. My phone is working. Make sure you put that out there, my phone is working. I paid my bills ahead of time, just so we have no problems. So I am ready
for anything that comes right now."
Although he did not admit in clear words, the player is likely to desert Colts on availability of an opportunity for playing along with Manning in future.
Irrespective of the fact that Dolphins have shown interest in signing Manning, there are a number of more suitors out in the market waiting for the veteran quarterback.
More teams are now expected to contact Manning, but the player has not yet spoken of his preferences. He is expected to start negotiating his prospects in the near future.
It is not clear how much any of the suitors will be willing to gamble on Manning’s situation when there is an independent proof of the progress that the player is said to have made in the recovery from a neck injury.
Colts also wanted to see it happening and the franchise’s owner, Jim Irsay, also called for Manning to clear the team’s physicals, which could have determined his fitness and power in throwing arm.
If a similar condition is set by any of the interested teams, the possibility of a deal with the player will become very difficult.
Peyton Manning has again reiterated his stance that he does not have anything to prove to anyone, and emphasised at the same time that he had been consistently making progress in the recovery since the surgery in September 2011.
His next move is expected to become clear after he hits the free agency on expiry of the NFL trade deadline of March 13, 2012.
