Indianapolis Colts allow Bruce Arians explore Chicago Bears’ coaching job prospects – NFL News
The Indianapolis Colts have allowed their offensive coordinator Bruce Arians to be interviewed for Chicago Bears’ head coaching job, although Coach Chuck Pagano said they do not want to lose him at all costs.
Arians has been hitting the headlines because of his impressive role in leading the side to the playoffs in absence of Pagano, while the head coach was on an indefinite leave recovering from Leukaemia. His impressive record has now attracted him to Bears,
who have requested for clearance from the Colts to interview the official.
Although the Colts have agreed permission for Arians to be interviewed, Pagano said they are interested to retain the coordinator in the longer run.
Pagano said:
"We do not want to lose Bruce Arians. He's just, we know what he is and we know what he means to this organization and to this football team. So let me just say that first and foremost. But you guys have seen him work over the last 12 weeks and you know
him as a person and as a coach and I would just tell him that you're getting, or if you're interested in a guy you're getting a guy that's a great leader, a great football coach, a great man, and if that happened you'd be getting a great football coach."
Arians’ coaching career has taken a giant leap forward after he was let go by the Pittsburgh Steelers in controversial manners in 2012. He forced to retire from the league but returned a week after to join the Colts in a similar role.
He then went on to perform as an interim coach role in absence of Pagano, who was all of sudden diagnosed with blood cancer. Arians said it was his dream to coach a team, which came true at Colts. He had an impressive season and led the team to 9-5 (nine
wins five losses) before Pagano came back into last game of the season.
Now he awaits brighter prospects in case of winning a head coaching job at Bears. This should allow him to fulfil his dream of head coaching once again.
