Indianapolis Colts back to cleansing campaign, cut WR Blair White-NFL News
After a brief period of lull, the Indianapolis Colts are back in the news for their famous rebuilding campaign and confirmed to have added another member of the squad to the list of released players.
Wide receiver, Blair White, turns out to be the latest victim of the owner, Jim Irsay’s rash cleansing of the team, which he had started soon after coming out of the 2011 season with the worst record of 2-14.
Colts released half a dozen players in one go a couple of weeks ago as a part of the rebuilding drive. They, however, have not signed any significant player to the squad during this period.
Their notable release was of quarterback, Peyton Manning, who was let go after having spent 14 consecutive seasons with the team.
White has been with Colts for two years after being picked up as an undrafted free agent off the market.
The last year turned out to be the lowest point of his brief career following an injury to his leg, which forced him out of the side for most part of the season.
He was able to participate only in seven games before the injury. In total, he has played 20 games in last two years. This includes four games as a starter and punt returner.
The player remained lucky in his first year as he was promoted to the starting position in absence of Austin Collie due to an unknown injury. Collie had started all the games before.
Since suffering the leg injury in October 2011, White has not played a single game or practised. With the release by Colts, the player is seeking to move elsewhere off the free agency market, but so far has not attracted any solid offer.
Apparently, no explanation of the possible reason of his release has come from Colts, which has been the case with all the players who have so far been cut by the team.
Irsay has parted ways with all his managers, coaches and most members of the squad following the team’s poor performance in 2011 season.
Colts will be coming out into the 2012 NFL season with a new GM, new head coach, assistant coaches, quarterback and players at some other positions.
At the moment, the team is pursuing the potential signing of new draft quarterback to replace their former QB, Peyton Manning.
