Indianapolis Colts beat Houston Texans (Part 3)
Houston Texans struggled against Indianapolis Colts from the start to finish. But in the second half of the game, Houston were at least able to put some more points on the board. That didn’t change the outcome of the game though because Colts' offense never
slowed down.
At the end of first half, Houston trailed the Colts with 3 points against 17 by Indianapolis. The third quarter began with Manning leading the Indianapolis' offense. In contrast to the last time, Colts were on the offensive and this time the yards came in
much quicker. Manning missed the first two pass attempts but on the third, he found Pierre Garcon and threw an 18 yard pass followed immediately by a 10 yard pass to Mike Hart. In all, the quarterback threw a total of 54 yards in four consecutive plays to
take the Colts to the 15 yard line.
On the 15, two incomplete passes left the Colts on third and 10 but Manning wasn’t looking to keep drive alive, he was looking for touchdown. Reggie Wayne on the left caught the pass on the 10 yard line and rushed down field. Two of Houston’s linemen converged
on Wayne but he streaked past them for touchdown. The extra point was good and with that Indianapolis’ lead stretched to 21.
Texan’s quarterback, Matt Schaub would get his act together finally. After the Indianapolis touchdown, Houston returned a 64 yard kick for 35 yards and started their offense on the 41 yard line. Running back Arian Foster came out with 9 yards in two plays
and Schaub rushed up the middle to get the down on the third. Having secured the drive, Schaub got back to the passing game and was met with a success this time. He threw a short left pass to Foster for 14 yards which was followed by a 5 yard dash by Derrick
Ward and another 2 yards rushing from Foster.
Still, the Colts were 28 yards short of touchdown. On third and 3, the quarterback passed deep right to Andre Johnson. Johnson pushed away cornerback Kelvin Hayden to catch the ball and ran along the edge of the field just slightly in front of Hayden. Safety
Aaron Francisco was coming in from the left and crashed into Johnson to throw him out of bounds but before he could do that, Johnson was able to sneak his foot into the end zone for touchdown.
The first touchdown for the Texans put them on 10 points against Indianapolis’ 24. The task ahead was still daunting and it would get only more hopeless as the third quarter continued.
Against a tough fight from Houston’s defence, the Indianapolis Colts bounced back from Houston’s touchdown and scored another field goal. Manning had early success with the offense. He started off with a 9 yard pass and had help from Donald Brown for the
first down. Manning then threw a brilliant 34 yard pass to Anthony Gonzalez, taking the Colts well into Texan territory. The Yards stopped coming and 8 plays later, from the 6 yard line the Colts had to attempt the field goal. The attempt was good and Indianapolis
edged ahead to 27 against 10.
Starting the offense in the third and continuing it in the fourth, Matt Schaub led the Texans on their third scoring drive. Houston almost lost possession during the drive in a fumble but the ball was recovered by none other than Arian Foster. Foster was
also the one who rushed the final 6 yards to score the touchdown for Houston. He ran right up the middle dodging linemen left and right before diving into the end zone between two Colts. The extra point was good but even with 7 points, the Texans were trailing
far behind.
12 minutes remained in the game for the Texans to close the 10 points spread. Colts’ defence though would allow no more points.
After the Foster touchdown, Indianapolis scored the final field goal of the game. Manning and Hart pushed the Colts up to the 18 yard line but had to stop short of the touchdown and take the field goal. The attempt was good.
The 4th quarter ended with Indianapolis Colts leading by 30 points against 17 by Houston Texans.
