Indianapolis Colts coach Bruce Arians happy with RB Donald Brown’s success on second coming – NFL News
The Indianapolis Colts have backed running back Donald Brown for a successful run this season on the second coming in the team after missing out on most of the last three seasons with injury scares.
Donald was drafted to the side off the 2009 draft but could not manage consistent pro career progress due to a number of injuries including the latest knee scare he suffered in the mid of this year.
Since winning another opportunity from the Colts he appeared to be a completely transformed player, which has come as a great development for coach Bruce Arians and other members of Colts’ organisation.
Arians, who is serving as a makeshift coach in absence of Chuck Pagano, said of the player:
"I liked Donald coming out (of college). I thought he was a hard downhill runner with great speed. He has shown flashes of that speed for us and I love speed. He is more than a professional, he's a top-notch pro. He's more than prepared every week. He prepares
the young guys. He's a great leader in his room and he's an explosive player and you can't have enough of those."
Bruce is coaching the Colts at the place of Pagano, who is under treatment for Leukaemia he was diagnosed with last month. He has done rather well so far, and hopes to take the Colts to an even better position, which he says will dedicate to his ill boss.
The return of Brown and some other key players is expected to bode well with the interim coach’s ambitions. Arians is genuinely an offensive coordinator. He has served the Pittsburgh Steelers before arriving in Indianapolis and Brown stands a chance to get
the right help from him to overcome any loss of form.
Pertinently, the recovery and return are even more encouraging for the player himself given he suffered some serious blows in the short pro career. He said:
"It's just a matter of staying positive, staying confident. It (the injury) was frustrating, but you have to realize that `I'm going to come back."
It is also a win-win situation for both sides: if the player performs well it will bring along a promise of a long-term stable future for both of them.
