Indianapolis Colts consolidate roster after a couple of injury scares – NFL News
The Indianapolis Colts have made some changes to their roster to accommodate a couple of players who have been activated and promoted from practice squad to replace two injured defensemen put on the injured reserves list.
As per changes the team has activated rookie nose tackle Josh Chapman. He is fifth round pick out of the 2012 draft out of Alabama. The player had remained on non-football injury reserve list, meaning he is allowed to return to active roster once recovered
from his injury or injuries.
He had suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in left knee and played last days of the college league with the same injury. He took part in the Colts preseason activities but did not get chance on active roster of the team.
Chapman will replace injured defensive tackle Drake Nevis who has been placed on the injured reserve list with a hurt hand. He is out of the season.
The team has also placed Jerraud Powers on the IR with a toe injury. He too is out of the side for rest of the season.
Meanwhile, tight end Kyle Miller has been promoted to active roster. He has so far spent time on the practice squad. All the players are getting chance for the first time from next game. The team has not disclosed terms of their deals.
Apart from these pair of changes, the Colts have maintained rest of the squad intact. The team has recently picked up momentum, recording few successive wins to be at 6-3 in American Football Conference (AFC) South, just behind the leaders the Houston Texans.
So far all crucial players have remained safe and protected from any serious blow. A particularly notable player is their offence leader quarterback Andrew Luck. He has been chased around and given tough time by oppositions’ defences because of his game
stature and calibre.
The Colts have taken special measures to increase protection around Luck and he too has managed well to tackle all hurdles safely and soundly so far. He in the last game against the Jacksonville Jaguars proved his strength while proving his mettle in run
and speed.
