Indianapolis Colts continue reshuffling; release special teams coach Ray Rychleski - NFL News
The cleansing drive launched by the Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay a couple of days ago has continued with the side’s special teams coaching staff Ray Rychleski becoming the latest causality of it.
A statement from the team management on Wednesday confirmed the firing of Rychleski, two days after the team owner Irsay fired their vice chairman Bill Polian and his son the general manager Chris Polian one after other.
The statement read out that Colts head coach Jim Caldwell wanted to make some changes into the side as part of the reshuffling and hiring firing drive and letting the team’s assistant coach go was a step into the direction.
Irsay while confirming the launch of cleansing drive following the sacking of Polians said that the Colts were focusing rebuilding in certain departments and firings were prompted by this need.
Apparently, there is no reason given behind the sacking of the assistant coach except that the change was made on the will of the head coach.
In any case, Rychleski becomes second assistant coach to have been released from his duties since the departure of defensive coordinator Larry Coyer by the team management in November 2011.
Again, there is no hint in the statement who will be next in the line of firing. A sword seems hanging over all members of the team without being sure who is to stay and who to go next season.
Into the very first week of the postseason and the Indianapolis Colts are straight up with reshuffling to avoid a season again to be as miserable for them as was the season 2011.
The side having played 16 games in the regular National Football League (NFL) season came out with only two wins and 14 losses. It was expected that the performance will put jobs of many team members both the players and officials at stake.
Polians were first ones to become victims to the sacking drive with jobs of many more feared to be expected to on the line.
Bill Polian in his first ever comments since his firing have admitted it was team’s failure to find a replacement for their injured quarterback Peyton Manning timely enough to salvage their team’s position that cost his and job of his son.
Manning was on the Colt’s active roster throughout the past season despite that there was no confirmation of the timeline on his recovery and return.
It was too much dependence on the one man that cost the side almost whole season and now it is trying to over with it and rebuild the outfit again.
