Indianapolis Colts first year head coach Chuck Pagano has a lot to prove – NFL News
Chuck Pagano – the first year head coach of the Indianapolis Colts – said to be satisfied with what he has done as far as the players' training needs are concerned.
The coach says he is aware of the first year’s pressure and challenges but does not attempt to do anything out of his way, just trying to be himself.
He said:
"The hardest part is administrative. You're delegating, you're trying to get guys in practice in the right spots, make sure everything is working from an organizational standpoint. At the same time, you want to get hands on. That's the biggest thing is you
got to stay involved, and you want to stay close to coaching and teaching as best you can."
Chuck did not offer comments how he has been taking the situation all along new officials and players because at the Colts everyone, from the head coach to the offence leader quarterback Andrew Luck, is in their rookie appearances. It might be an issue to
get along with new assistant coaches in a completely new setting.
The coach is particularly excited to have former Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Bruce Arians in the side who left the league in controversial manner to return to the Colts in the similar role only a few days after announcing retirement. Bruce
coached Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger and here he is training rookie Luck.
Chuck Pagano has deserted the Baltimore Ravens to accept the head coaching role at the Colts in place of their former coach Jim Caldwell, who was let go by the owner Jim Irsay during the drive of rash cleansing of his team.
One of the challenging tasks on the new coach’s hands is putting back the Colts on winning ways.
The team is coming off the worst 2-14 season. This puts the head coach under pressure and he will face tough times if the team again ends up without any improvement or little improvement from the past year’s level. Only a couple of more wins this season
are less likely to satisfy Colts owner Jim Irsay and the coach must be aware of the challenge in front of him.
