Indianapolis Colts former chairman Bill Polian to be football pundit on SiriusXM NFL radio– NFL News
Indianapolis Colts former vice chairman, Bill Polian, who had been a consistent voice to be heard in favour of their quarterback, Peyton Manning, has decided to become a National Football League (NFL) pundit with Sirius XM Radio, a channel that focuses 24-hour
coverage of the league.
Polian had repetitively spoken about the return of Peyton Manning from his neck injury to join them at some point in the 2011 NFL regular season.
With that coming never happened, Colts ended the season at 2-14, and at the end the performance cost the chairman his job along with other officials, who were sacked by the team owner, Jim Irsay.
The former vice chairman had also been known to mediamen for his outbursts against journalists and labelling them with different names.
Little he might have known then that one day he will be on the same hot seat, commenting on the different aspects of the American professional football and players.
"I've been a guest on SiriusXM NFL Radio many times and it is an outstanding source for league news and information," said Polian. "Now I get to be the one asking the questions. I'm excited to get on the air to talk shop with players, executives and coaches
around the league and interact daily with many of the great fans who have helped make the NFL the most successful sports league in the world.”
Polian had been commenting on the game during his appearance on different radio programs during the regular season. He has especially been vocal about the issue of Peyton Manning.
The former Colts’ official had assured his team that Manning will be able to recover from his neck surgery and join them at some point of the season. He had left the player on the team’s active roster despite that there was no timeline for his recovery.
He had never been backed by Irsay, and the apparent difference in the approach of Polian and Jim Irsay cost the chairman his job. Polian was fired by his employer soon after the regular season. His son, Chris Polian, who was a general manager at Colts was
also let go with his father.
One of Polian’s positives was his ability to assess the talent. He has been key person supporting Peyton Manning and the only voice to be heard in praise of the QB at various forums.
It was the reason of his unprecedented support that the player was saddened over hearing the news of his firing by Irsay. The player’s criticism of the decision had led to a controversy between the owner and him, which later was played down by both parties.
Polian still believes that Manning remains the only choice for Colts.
