Indianapolis Colts have Andrew Luck in their sights with first draft pick - NFL News
The National Football League (NFL) drafts are still a few days away but there is no doubt now which quarterback from Stanford’s Andrew Luck and Baylor’s, Robert Griffin III will become the number one overall pick and head to Indianapolis.
According to different reports, the Colts have contacted Luck and his representatives to make it clear that the Stanford quarterback will be their pick in this year’s drafts which begin on April 26th.
The news comes just a day after general manager, Ryan Grigson said at a press conference on Wednesday that the franchise has made up its mind over the drafts but refused to name the player.
"We've known for a little while. We've done all our due diligence. Unless there's an unforeseen problem or something like that, we know what we're doing."
The franchise ended up with the first pick in the drafts after ending the 2011-12 regular season with a 2-14 record and it was known from the start that they would most likely move for Luck whose style of play resembles that of former Colts quarterback and
legend, Peyton Manning.
With the first pick confirmed without doubt, Baylor’s Robert Griffin III will now end up at the Washington Redskins who hold the second overall pick in this year’s drafts.
The Colts had their eyes set on Luck from the first day that they ended up with the first draft pick.
The franchise released their quarterback for 13 seasons Peyton Manning to free agency and they are now looking to rebuild the team completely around Luck.
That is huge responsibility for the young quarterback as Manning is a legend in the city and now Luck has to shoulder the burden of leading the franchise from the very first day.
However, the Stanford graduate has the potential to thrive in such circumstances.
Luck has a wonderful record in college and passed for 3,517-yards while also throwing for 37-touchdowns in his last season.
It’s a fresh start for Indianapolis with Andrew Luck and fans are excited at the prospect of seeing their new quarterback lead the franchise to new heights in the coming years.
Manning is the past, Andrew Luck is now the future.
