Indianapolis Colts host Miami Dolphins in QB Andrew Luck versus Ryan Tannehill – NFL Preview
The Indianapolis Colts and Miami Dolphins are the two teams with identical record facing each other when the former hosts the visitors at Lucas Oil stadium this Sunday (Nov. 04).
Also, both teams have commonality in their offence leadership as both quarterbacks – Dolphins’ Ryan Tannehill and Colts’ Andrew Luck are the two top draft picks out of the 2012 draft.
It will be first real test for both of them in front of each other since leaving their respective colleges. Pertinently, both of them have won the leadership role straight away. Although Tannehill had to work himself up on the leadership ladder, Luck did
not have anyone challenging him to win the starting role.
Luck said of the situation:
"I think a big thing for us is realizing you are a rookie, that doesn't mean you have to play as a rookie. You don't have that excuse. This team needs us, the rookies, to perform well and perform well now, and I think guys have taken that to heart."
It will be rather unusual situation for Luck if Tannehill misses the weekend game because of a knee injury scare. He was knocked down in the game versus the New York Jets last weekend and could not manage to return with a bruised knee to finish the game,
which was comprehensively won by them.
Some media sections have cited unconfirmed sources claiming that an MRI has revealed that Tannehill’s is not a structural damage and he might be able to return to action this Sunday. If it happens it will be exciting to watch the two young leaders facing
each other on the field for the first time in their pro career.
Dolphins in the meantime are preparing to share the snaps with former starter QB Matt Moore, who has started many times for the Dolphins in the past and is excited to grab another opportunity. He said:
"I just prepare and know that the opportunity can come at any time. When you get in there, manage the game, don't turn the ball over, but at the same time take your shots and make big plays. That's just how I approach it."
Both teams have won four and lost three games each so far and are raring to add to their victories this weekend. The Colts have already moved out of the miserable performance of past season that had reduced them to only two wins. Obviously credit goes to
Luck and if somehow Colts manage to the playoffs, the quarterback must be hailed as saviour of the Colts and lay foundation stone of another great era.
