Indianapolis Colts must sustain late-season pressure in final push for playoffs – NFL News
The Indianapolis Colts are gearing up for the final push for playoffs with or without a wildcard opportunity and their ability to make the second round will be determined by their progress in the last month of the regular season when the pressure will be
maximum.
So far the team led by rookie quarterback Andrew Luck has performed beyond expectations but their sustainability in the late season will be even remarkable and will confirm their chances into playoffs.
Defensive end Cory Redding said of their situation:
"All of our dreams are still alive. We write our own destiny and that's the biggest thing after Indy's latest victory, 20-13 over Buffalo. We don't have to rely on anybody else to get a win or get a loss. Our destiny is in our hands. It's up to us to just
continue to do what we're doing, keep playing hard, keep working hard to just continue to stack wins and stay in this hunt."
The Colts are 7-4 in the American Football Conference (AFC) South division, just behind the division leaders the Houston Texans who are navigating through successfully at 10-1.
Other two competitors are nowhere near them. A couple of more wins will make the Colts’ chance certain and then they will have only to monitor how other teams progress in the season.
Although interim coach Bruce Arians has not denied that they are not focusing on the playoffs, he said winning was most important for them. The coach said:
"It's worked this far. Just because it's December, the price of poker has gone up but the process is still the same."
The key to success in the future also is with Colts young quarterback Andrew Luck and he has so far managed well to lead the team right from the front. He will be one of the few players, and better than Peyton Manning, if leads the team to playoffs during
his rookie appearance.
He certainly has the credentials and potential to perform well provided he remains protected from any issue such as injuries etc.
