Indianapolis Colts not moving training camp out of Anderson University-NFL News
The Indianapolis Colts said to have been quite impressed with the facilities and staff at the Anderson University and officially confirmed that they are not moving the training camp out of the campus.
Earlier, different reports suggested that Colts might be shifting their training camp to another place this year.
Having maintained a mum on all those reports previously, the management has now confirmed in an official statement that they will continue to train at the university’s facilities in 2012.
Colts have been organising their training camp at the campus since 2011, after relocating from Terre Haute, where they did workouts till 2010.
The team has scheduled beginning of the camp on July 27, 2012, when the players will report to the camp. The formal workout activities will start from July 29.
Confirmation of the schedule and timetable was announced following visit of the team’s officials to the facility recently.
Colts’ general manager, Ryan Grigson, said the officials were impressed with the amenities available at the facility and the team of experienced staff present there.
With the statement from the GM, weeks of uncertainty about the team’s training camp has ended. It is official now that the team will be heading to the university, located 25 miles north to Indianapolis.
Grigson’s assurance has reportedly come in consultation with the franchise’s owner, Jim Irsay.
Colts have previously utilised this campus for training and workout from 1984 to 98. In Terre Haute, the team trained since 1999 until 2010.
It is pertinent to note here that the Colts are coming out for the training camp with almost entire new team of players and officials.
The GM, head coach, and new quarterback, Andrew Luck, will be doing workout for the first time for Colts.
The team is particularly excited about the arrival of the draft QB, as he holds the key to their future performances and wins, following exit of their former star, Peyton Manning.
