Indianapolis Colts odds-defying, Peyton Manning-less comeback credited to Andrew Luck – NFL News
The Indianapolis Colts have made an odds-defying comeback into the National Football League (NFL) to the much disbelief of their critics and some onlookers who had discarded Peyton Manning-less team a year earlier when they finished at the bottom of the
league’s standings chart with only two wins and huge 14 losses.
In reality it was their miserable performance of the last season that led them to qualify for the top draft quarterback Andrew Luck off the 2012 draft, and he has paid the team off, helping them to to successive victories in the 2012 season.
Luck since arriving in Indianapolis earlier this season has changed the fortune of the Colts. Analysts admit they did not expect the rookie to perform so well. He has led the side to be well on the playoff course now, which is a rare performance outcome
by a young side in the league, and that has just been through to rebuilding process.
The win of the team is particularly significant that they are led by an interim coach. Their head coach Chuck Pagano has been hospitalised since being diagnosed with blood cancer. He is replaced by the makeshift coach Bruce Arians, and he has led the side
very successfully.
Although the team stays well on the playoff course, Bruce said the numbers of wins was not important for him but building of the team as a solid side that is consistent winners.
He said:
"There are some really good football teams behind us and we just have to take care of our own business, and we will worry about all that (later) because a lot of the teams will play each other in these last few weeks. There's plenty of time to worry about
it."
The Colts’ performance has also forced their fans, who deserted the side because Manning’s unceremonious departure, to start backing the side once again, and they are likely to be the same old diehard folks behind the team if the Colts are successfully through
to the second round.
