Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay boasts nearing high-profile deal – NFL News
Indianapolis Colts' owner Jim Irsay took to his favourite communication channel Twitter to play around speculations of a high-profile deal the team is expected to finalise this weekend but the owner has so far kept everyone guessing who is going to be an
outcome of the 'serious' trade.
The owner has denied players Mike Wallace and Maurice Jones-Drew are potential target of the team’s anticipated trade deal, saying everyone will come to know about it this weekend.
Jim was rather more casual in his tweets this time, playing with short words – a benchmark of social networking sites or text messaging communication – and seemed interested in point scoring against journalists that they cannot guess the potential player
Colts are going to bring in as part of their ‘serious’ deal.
His tweets have come a day after he first made the headlines over the trade option, saying his managers are willing to roll the dice out and he himself eager to dole out money to feed the need of players’ strength at certain but unknown positions.
Irsay wrote:
“Things r still n play, deal may just go down this weekend, time will tell, but then there's the WaiverWire monitoring..improvement, opportunity!”
He added:
“Contest! For 161 doll hairs($) n real NFL Football..will a trade b done by Monday, yes or no? 1 guess only, Abby's Dart Board random throw!”
Some commentators believe in the possibility that the so-called high profile hiring turns out be nothing at the end. Even Irsay himself had hinted at an unexpected fall of the potential deal.
The team nevertheless is seen having poor quality of talent at the defensive position. They also need a player like Mike Wallace on the offensive line, which, if happens, will complement quarterback Andrew Luck’s performance as the offence leader.
While the owner has denied it, the possibility of hiring a player like Mike or Jacksonville Jaguars’ rebellious running back Maurice Jones-Drew who is on a holdout in protest to the team’s refusal to give him a new deal, cannot be ruled out.
Irsay in the meantime is making most of the opportunity by playing around the idea and apparently boasting his success in keeping everyone in the dark as far as selection of the player is concerned.
