Indianapolis Colts rookie backup QB Chandler Harnish making most of pro stint – NFL News
Irrespective of the question whether Indianapolis Colts’ rookie quarterback, Chandler Harnish, makes it to the final roster this season, he is upbeat about his pro career stint.
Chandler says the entire activity he has participated in so far has proved to be a great learning experience for him and he aims to make the most of the full training camp next month and then the actual season, if he progresses through.
Apparently, the player has set great hopes of winning a call on the active roster and the hopes appear to be his belief now given the team has recently relieved a pair of QBs.
Further, he has already been given a contract by the team. While terms of his deal are unknown, he is expected to play a season at least in Indianapolis.
The QB has been a part of the rookies’ minicamp, three-day mandatory minicamp and some other informal workout at the team’s headquarters.
He said of the experience:
“I don't think you can really even measure it. It's been leaps and bounds in understanding the playbook, the different nuances of what (offensive coordinator) Bruce Arians wants to do. And then just technically working with my quarterback
coach Clyde Christensen.”
The player added:
“We've done so much together, put in a lot of hours and seen a lot of great strides. I'm happy about it, but I'm not anywhere near satisfied. I'm excited about the work we need to put in yet.”
Bruce Arians has groomed many quarterbacks including Pittsburgh Steelers’ Ben Roethlisberger, and has landed in Indianapolis after having some troublesome time into later part of his career in Pittsburgh.
He is already excited about prospects of training the future star, Andrew Luck, and his backups.
Harnish is most likely to compete for third or fourth spot behind Andrew, and if he is able to stick around the headquarters for a little longer, he will definitely have the opportunity to learn offence in Arians’ supervision.
Away from his pro prospects, the player has also been enjoying a time out with his family members and at the team’s fans camp. He already poses to be a very busy man, signing for fans and supporters, and chatting about his pro career.
