Indianapolis Colts see rare win confidence booster, turning point – NFL News
The Indianapolis Colts are lucky to have finally found a win in the second game of the new season for which they had waited for 13 games last year and some of the players, who are upbeat about the victory, see it a turning point for the team given it will
help them regain their lost confidence and belief in themselves.
It was down on rookie quarterback Andrew Luck, who turned the tables for them in the last game, and since then the players’ moral is almost sky-high.
Defensive tackle Fili Moala says about impact of the win on the player’s attitudes:
"I think the biggest difference now is that guys are more excited to come to work. It wasn't as if anyone turned on each other. Players, as a whole, had each other's backs. But this year, even though we haven't really done anything yet, it's a relief to
get a win under our belt."
After the first hard-fought victory it is essential that the team should win their second game straight to give the players a belief it was not just one-off chance.
It nevertheless is a well taken comeback from the team since going through a miserable season last year, after a long successful era under the reign of former offence leader quarterback Peyton Manning. Until the past Sunday, some of the veterans, who have
survived owner Jim Irsay’s rash cleansing drive, were frustrated and clueless to find an answer to the team’s struggle to find a win.
QB Andrew Luck says of the win:
“I think there is a sense of relief about when's it (the first win) going to come, when's it going to come?"
The Colts have great hopes from Andrew and if he is able to exploit his potential to the optimum level in the season the team has a chance for performing even better, and given their rivals the Jacksonville Jaguars and Tennessee Titans are struggling to
perform well early in the season, any lapse in the American Football Conference (AFC) South division can help them through to the playoffs.
