Indianapolis Colts sign an unspecified deal with rookie receiver T.Y. Hilton -NFL News
After a lapse of a few days, the Indianapolis Colts have announced signing of another rookie player, bringing the number of drafts to have received contracts from the management after being selected out of the 2012 National Football League (NFL) draft, held
from April 26 to 28, to seven.
Colts picked ten players off the draft and with the confirmation on June 1 that they have signed an unspecified deal with receiver, T. Y. Hilton, only three rookies are now left for signing.
This includes quarterback, Andrew Luck, and a pair of other players, who were picked in the first round, with Luck for the number one spot, overall.
Colts’ owner, Jim Irsay, has said separately that they are closer to a breakthrough in the deal for Luck.
Hilton, the latest signee, was selected by Colts in third round of the draft at the 92nd position.
He is a part of the group, which includes Luck, Fleener and Allen, who the owner hopes would grow up together to form a strong offence.
Terms of Hilton’s contract, which includes the value and tenure, have not been disclosed by any of the stakeholders.
The player now looks to capitalise on the opportunity and make himself an important member of the strong offence line, which the team owner has hoped for.
Hilton is joining the pro league from the Florida International, where he caught 229 passes for a total of 3,531 yards. He also held 14 touchdown passes.
Colts have parted ways with almost the entire former offence line players, starting right from the star quarterback, Peyton Manning.
The team will be out on the field into the 2012 season with new faces in the line-up. Hilton is among the players at Luck’s receiving end.
It will be in the interest of Luck and Colts that the players receiving the QB’s throws should complement his efforts on the offence line.
