Indianapolis Colts sign centre A.Q. Shipley to replace injured Samson Satele for Green Bay Packers game
The Indianapolis Colts have introduced a couple of changes to their roster while coming out of the bye week to face the Green Bay Packers this Sunday (Oct. 07) under the reign of interim coach Bruce Arians, for the first time this season.
As per changes, the team has promoted centre A.Q. Shipley from practice squad to the active roster on an unknown deal to replace Samson Satele who is recovering from a knee surgery.
This is the second time that Shipley has signed with the Colts this season. He was on their practice squad but signed before start of the season. He played the season opener against the Chicago Bears and was released on Sept 10, but signed again on the practice
squad next day.
Again, he has been brought on the active roster on a deal, terms of which have not been disclosed by either side.
The Colts are preparing to host Packers this weekend, led by Bruce who has replaced Chuck Pagano, who has suffered leukaemia and needs to be hospitalised for about a couple of months.
Bruce has expressed optimism in successfully leading the Colts to a win this week which he said will be dedicated to Chuck to wish him good health.
Both coaches joined the team this year following rash cleansing of former staff by owner Jim Irsay, who disclosed the illness of Chuck and announced giving the head coaching responsibilities to Bruce on an interim arrangement.
The offensive coordinator is expected to lead the team throughout this season, as according to the owner, Chuck is unlikely for a comeback this year.
The Colts have lost a pair of games so far and heading to the Packers’ game with a single win. They are tied with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Tennessee Titans in the American Football Conference (AFC) South division with a win each. The Houston Texans are
leading the division with hundred percent record.
Meanwhile, the team said they have released linebacker Mario Addison to accommodate Shipley on the roster. Further, the team has signed cornerback Marshay Green to the practice squad to replace D.J. Johnson who has been let go.
