What's the largest crowd the Indianapolis 500 has ever had? Has the Brickyard 400 ever had a larger crowd?

Indianapolis motor speedway does not release attendance numbers, they never have so you really can't say.  It is estimated that it can hold 300,000+ and in the 70 & 80's it was usually full.  The Brickyard does not fill the arean like the 500 used to but they have come close.
