Indianapolis mayor Greg Ballard says city deserves another Super Bowl in near future-NFL News
The city of Indianapolis that has just successfully hosted the National Football League’s (NFL) supreme event, Super Bowl, wants to have the opportunity again in the near future.
NFL Commissioner, Roger Goodell, has praised the city for ‘fantastic’ arrangements during the period leading upto the mega event, and now chief of the city wants to be rewarded by getting another chance to host the NFL title game.
Indianapolis’s mayor, Greg Ballard said that the city will bid again to host the Super Bowl in future, as the recent success speaks of the city's ability to organise such prestigious events.
Therefore, Ballard believes that they should be given another Super Bowl, remarking while speaking to the media.
Ballard said Super Bowl was not the first event to have been hosted by the city, and pointed out that Indianapolis has hosted many more events of such stature in the past.
The mayor said that people of the city wanted to have the event once again in the near future and they have already proved their credentials.
He said:
"There will be people within the next couple years or so, I think, that would be looking at putting something back in, or at least determining when we would be doing that sort of thing."
It is pertinent to mention that the fans, who had come out of a rather disappointing season as far as the local football team, Colts, are concerned, had the Super Bowl to cheer about and overcome the team’s failure.
The city gave a look of festivities and celebrations during the week that had led to the Super Bowl final, on February 05, 2012.
Indianapolis’ administration led by the mayor made arrangements to cater to the needs of arriving guests, players, officials and fans, and almost all members of the football community expressed their satisfaction over the measures.
This prompted the NFL boss, Goodell, to congratulate the local administration, particularly the mayor, Indianapolis Colts’ owner, Jim Irsay, and fans over hosting the event successfully.
Goodell’s words apparently did not satisfy the mayor, who now wants to host the event once again.
Greg Ballard said:
"I think we really embraced the game and embraced the entire concept of the Super Bowl, with so many people coming together, different committees all over for four years. I think it was a big hit."
Goodell was recently been asked about the possibility of giving Indianapolis another Super Bowl, but he refrained from commenting on the matter.
The commissioner has not said anything of the latest demands from the mayor as well and the question remains hanging in the balance.
Meanwhile, the mayor and fans are continuing speaking of their demand at the NFL Scouting Combine, currently underway at the Indianapolis, and provides with the opportunity in front of the participating football officials.
