Indiano all set to take on the Mr. Prospector field at Gulfstream Park
The Grade 2 winning 3-year-old colt, Indiano, will be looking to cap off his good 2011 campaign with a win in the Grade 3 Mr. Prospector Stakes on 31 December, 2011. So far the race has reeled in good competition to run over a distance of 6 furlongs on dirt
at Gulfstream Park.
The six furlong dash will be restricted for 3-year-olds and above, as Martin D. Wolfson trained colt, Indiano, will look to make his first start since September, when he finished third to winner Royal Currier in $250,000 Gallant Bob Stakes at Parx Racing
over a distance of 6 furlongs.
Prior to the Gallant Bob Stakes, Indiano was on 3 race winning streak, starting from a six furlong dash in the Unbridled Stakes at Calder race course on 11 June, 2011. Under jockey L Saez, Indiano shot out of the gate and covered the six furlong distance
in 1 minute and 10.68 seconds.
He defeated Megalith and Close it Out in the process, who finished second and third, respectively.
Staying at Calder, Indiano with a win under his belt was pointed at the Grade 2 Carry Back Stakes over a distance of 6 furlongs.
L Saez was again the chosen jockey for Indiano, and he proved his selection by guiding the colt to another win at Clader. The pair took off around the bend and never looked back as the covered the six furlong distance in 1 minute and 10.60 seconds, defeating
the favoured Smash in the process, who finished second.
He finally got his hat-trick with L Saez in the six and a half furlong long Eillo Stakes at Calder race course on 5 September, 2011, where he downed Atlantic Bull in second and Bull Dozer in third, while covered the six and a half furlong distance in 1 minute
and 17.08 seconds.
The Kentucky bred son of Indian Charlie, out of mare Separata by Sam M, Indiano will be up against a very strong Mr. Prospector lineup where the likes of Apriority, Capt, Candyman Can and Natahn’s HQ will be waiting to wrap up the year with a bang.
