The 3-year-old colt, Indiano came to the Florida based trainer Martin Wolfson, in  February this season, and since then the colt has found his feet, though it took his a couple of races to figure out what U.S racing is all about.
Indiano has now wrapped his mind around the U.S racing scenario, and now that he has, he has become unbeatable, with three stakes wins in a row including the Grade 2 Carry Back Stakes at Calder racecourse on 9 July, 2011, at about 6 furlongs.
Originally, the son of Indian Charlie, out of Separata by Sam M, Indiano is from Panama, and there the colt was unbeaten with five wins out of five starts by a combined thirty lengths, but under Martin Wolfson’s custody he started off from an allowance race.
He was a good second there, and then came the Grade 2 Swale Stakes, where he also turned in a runner up performance, but fell away in the one mile long Grade 3 Derby Trial under jockey Garrett Gomez, where he finished fifth.
The Grade 3 Derby Trial was Indiano’s only start out of Calder racecourse, and he ran that race at Churchill Downs dirt course 30 April, 2011.
Since his fifth place finish in the Derby Trial, Indiano picked up the pace and started winning all of a sudden, his first on the American soil was the Unbridled Stakes at Calder racecourse at about 6 furlongs long.
The 3-year-old sprinter destroyed his opponents and covered the distance in 1 minute and 10.68 seconds.
Next up was the all important Grade 2 Carry Back, also run over a distance of 6 furlongs on 9 July, 2011, and claimed the Grade 2 status in 1 minute and 10.60 seconds, and finally he completed his unbeaten run in the Eillo Stakes.
On 5 September, Indiano went unbeaten in three starts, and all of these three wins came under jockey L Saez.
Now, Indiano is ready to take on six rivals in the $250,000 Gallant Bob Stakes at Parx Racing on 24 September, 2011, and will look to extend his unbeaten run out of Calder.
