The Indian players have decided to reach earlier in South Africa to practice before the start of the series. Indian players have found it difficult to bat in the South African conditions in the past and their record is not very impressive there.
They have never won a series in South Africa and have one only won once in 12 matches played after 1992 against the South African team.
India will not be playing any practice match in South Africa before the start of the series. Due to this the coach of the team Gary Kirsten wanted the team to be early in South Africa to practice hard for one week on bouncy practice wickets. The training
will take place in the Gary Kirsten Performance Zone Academy in Cape Town.
Gary knows that there will be a lot of short bowling from the South African pace attack to the Indian bowlers and that is why he has briefed to prepare bouncy practice wickets in the academy.
The first training session will start today in the afternoon with the players who have already reached South Africa. Other players are also expected to arrive in South Africa in batches and the whole squad is expected to be in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 until Friday.
The players already in South Africa are http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jaidev-Unadkat-c1626.
The academy has prepared seven wickets for the Indian batsmen to practice. Throughout the weekend, the team will be provided by fielders and bowlers from Cape Town cricket clubs. The coach of the local team http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Cape-Cobras-c776, Richard Pybus said that the Indian
team wouldn’t be provided the frontline bowlers.
After this academy was formed, Gary Kirsten had to move in India to take the responsibilities of coaching. Due to this, there hasn’t been much action in the academy. This would be the first major assignment of the academy and the organisers are excited about
it and hope that everything will head in the right direction.
This can be a good move by the Indian team and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gary-Kirsten-c58527. Arriving early will help them getting used to the wickets and the conditions in South Africa. Gary has done a good job with the Indian team and will look to help them improve their record in South
Africa. India is ranked at number one in the ICC Test rankings at the moment whereas South Africa is at number two. This would make the competition more interesting.
The Indian team will be hoping that the big guns fire in South Africa and prove that India is the number one team in the world. They will also like the bowlers to carry on the good performance they have been giving in India.
On the other hand, the South African team will be waiting for the start of the first Test. They will be hoping that the injured players, Graeme Smith and Hashim Amla are fit before the first match. Both the players sustained injuries in the series against
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 in UAE. The duo has been included in the squad for the first match as their presence in the team will be very important.
All in all, it will be an exciting series and both the teams will be looking forward for victories to gain more confidence ahead of the 2011 World Cup in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750.
