India’s Aditi Mutatkar surges into Women’s Singles quarter-final of the 2011 Vietnam Open Grand Prix
India’s passionate shuttler, Aditi Mutatkar surged into Women’s Singles quarter-final by stretching her winning run as she defeated Chinese Taipei’s Hsiao Huan Chen in the second round of the 2011 Vietnam Open Grand Prix, at Ho Chi Minh city, in Vietnam,
on Thursday, August 25.
The spirited Indian displayed a tremendous performance against the Taipei shuttler and won the thrilling rubber-set battle by taking 55 minutes in the court. She played wonderful badminton with a great touch of confidence as her strokes were landing in the
perfect areas.
The opening set of the second round match was not in the favour of the Indian as she committed too many errors in the opening half. She was struggling hard to move freely as her opponent was playing with impressive variations in her strokes. Until the break,
Mutatkar was three points behind her rival by reaching at 8-11.
After the break, the Indian tried to close the gap but her challenger was playing safe badminton and avoided to execute any extraordinary or unusual strokes. Mutatkar failed to cope up with the positive play of the Taipei shuttler and lost the set with a
15-21 difference, in 17 minutes.
It was a completely different game in the second set when the Indian took control of the pace and made her opponent work hard for every single point. The opening half remained close but in the second-half, Mutatkar dominated the game with her wonderful skills.
The Indian remained successful in levelling the match as she clinched the game with the score of 21-18, in 20 minutes.
The deciding game of this Women’s Singles contest was quite interesting as both shuttlers played to their full potential. The exchange of long rallies in the first-half of the set created more thrill in the match.
However, Mutatkar took control of the pace and remained dominant in the concluding phase of the encounter. She won the third set in 18 minutes with the result of 21-17. This Women’s Singles contest ended in 55 minutes by the score of 15-21, 21-18 and 21-17.
