India’s Rahul Yadav casts out Aniruddha Mayekar in 26th Sub Junior National Badminton Championship
The budding shuttler Rahul Yadav C. of India served notice of his potential by gaining entry in the main round of 26th Sub Junior National Badminton Championship on December 3, 2012.
He cleared the qualifying round of Boy’s Singles Under-15 event by sealing a straight-set win over Aniruddha Mayekar.
Rahul played with the right attitude and wrapped this showdown by registering an overwhelming result of 21-16 and 21-8.
This 20-minute tussle was staged local badminton complex of Patna, India where a huge crowd gathered to encourage both youngsters.
The battle heated up immediately as both compatriot shuttlers strived hard to pocket this opening match point.
However, Rahul displayed superior finishing skills and earned the right to be in the main round of this national championship.
He laid the foundation of his supremacy in no time by gathering some valuable points in a row. He capitalised this initial advantage in next couple of rallies and strengthened his grip over the game.
Though, Aniruddha put an honest effort to come out of his rival’s influence but he failed to hit the mark until mid-game break.
He was in deficit of many points at half time and he could not narrow the gap in latter part of the game.
Meanwhile, Rahul gathered valuable points without any interruption and doubled his lead in third quarter of the set.
He maintained a notable difference of five points and swept the table with a staggering knock of 21-16.
The second set proved a dead contest as Aniruddha hardly put up any resistance and crashed out of this tournament.
Things went out of his control when Rahul clinched few back-to-back points in the beginning and then mounted pressure by prevailing in couple of consecutive rallies.
Both Indian shuttlers were poles apart in terms of performance as Aniruddha kept on making blunders and allowed his competitor to transform his 1-0 lead into a straight-set victory.
On the other hand, Rahul did not make a single mistake and raised hands as victor after putting 21-8 margin on the board.
Now he will be up against a higher ranked young shuttler, Mithun M. in the Boy’s Singles event.
