Raina while talking to newsmen reiterated that India were favourites for the mega event because of all the right reasons since they have the best coach, skipper and batsman in their squad.
He said, “We have a very good chance to win the tournament. We have the best coach in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028 and best player in Sachin Tendulkar. I don't see why we can't make it big. Tendulkar is the biggest inspiration for the team and
since it's going to be his last World Cup, we will make this tournament a memorable one. We are really pumped up”.
India has just returned from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757, after playing their last major series before next month’s World Cup.
Team India managed to draw a three-match Test series against the mighty Proteas and also won the only Twenty20 match in the tour.
However, they lost the ODI series 3-2. The loss in the ODIs may not have been considered alarming by the cricket management but this does suggest that the team needs to make some radical improvements in the 50-overs format of the game.
Raina, has always been a performing cricketer for India, however the tour of South Africa was not a good one for him, where he struggled in finding his form.
He, nevertheless, brushed aside the concerns regarding his form and reiterated that he was not under pressure and was confident that he would not disappoint his fans once the World Cup begins.
“There is no reason for me to worry about my form. I have been batting well and got to 30-odd regularly in the ODI series against South African in South Africa. Batting at No. 6, I gave my best shot. We couldn't win the series, but we fought hard. The way
we applied ourselves augurs well for the World Cup”, he said.
Speaking on his form he further reiterated, “After playing cricket at the highest level for a while, I know my game well. One fine day, if someone criticizes me, it doesn't affect me much. I am never under pressure. I have complete faith in my natural ability.
More importantly, I enjoy everything I do on the field.”
He insisted that none of the sides from the subcontinent could be written off in the World Cup and anyone of them could come up with a performance of a life time.
He insisted that India would want to win the global cricketing event to become the first nation to lift the “Cup” at home.
