The budding female shuttler Vaishnavi K. of India continued her unbeatable run and marched into the fourth stage of Girl’s Singles qualifying round in the 26th Sub Junior National Badminton Championship on December 2, 2012.
She was up against another young shuttler, Janhvi Khanna who had to bid farewell to this tournament after facing a 21-13 and 21-14 defeat.
This encounter concluded in just 22 minutes with Vaishnavi sealing a straight-set victory to setup her next clash with Manali Bora.
The third seeded shuttler Vaishnavi earned great deal of admiration for her mesmerising show of skills in the local badminton complex of Patna, India.
She did not wait for the right moment and launched a brisk attack to gain an early advantage. She established an unassailable lead with few back-to-back productive rallies and maintained that upper hand until last shot was played.
Though, Janhvi Khanna made every effort to counter-balance the situation but she could not hit the mark before the mid-game break.
She finished first half of the set with a notable deficit and then remained at the lower end in the ending part of the game.
Meanwhile, Vaishnavi showed consistency in her performance and served notice of her supremacy.
At first, she unleashed a series of well placed strokes and added valuable points in her total. She widened the gap in third quarter of the set and then left her challenger far behind with a significant margin of 21-13.
The second set was also dominated by the talented Indian youngster as she displayed remarkable maturity in her craft and sealed a straight-set victory.
This time Vaishnavi played with a cautious approach in the beginning but still she played impeccable badminton to pile up an indomitable figure of 11. She capitalised this initial advantage and raised her lead in the third quarter of the set.
Meanwhile, Janhvi put an honest effort and narrowed the gap to some extent but her fluctuated performance put her expedition to a halt.
She kept on making critical mistakes which ultimately led her to a woeful exit from this national championship.
Vaishnavi made best out of her competitor’s blunders and surged into next stage of the qualifying round with an impressive knock of 21-14.
