India’s injury woes deepen as Sachin Tendulkar and Rohit Sharma join the list - Cricket News Update
India’s tour of England has been nothing short of a nightmare for their skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028, and when it seems that it can’t get any worse for the Men in Blue, something new pops-up.
Team India’s injury woes seems to have deepened as their star batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RG-Sharma-c2309 join the long list of players who have been sidelined from the series.
Tendulkar is suffering from a toe injury to his right foot, which also prevented him from taking part in the first ODI. However, his injury seems to be of a mild nature and the batting Maestro is expected to recover from it before
India locks horns against the Poms on Tuesday, for the second ODI.
Indian cricket team's manager, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nandlal-Shivlal-Yadav-c78587, revealed that Tendulkar’s injury will be assessed on Monday and the decision regarding his inclusion will be taken accordingly.
“Sachin Tendulkar is suffering from an inflammation to the bone in his big toe on the right foot. In the past he had a fracture to this bone and yesterday, after the training, he felt a little pinch, the Indian team physio, and
both felt it would be safe to rest him for this match. On Monday Tendulkar will visit a surgeon in London,” said Yadav.
Tendulkar’s availability is still a doubt but same is not the case with Sharma. The right-handed batsman will no longer take any part in the ongoing ODI series and will fly back home.
Indian skipper, Dhoni, lamenting the loss of another player, saying, “I thought whatever could go wrong went wrong (in the Test series), but it is always increasing the next game. It looks like we will be asking for more replacements
because with Rohit it is almost 100 per cent sure that he'll be going back. It doesn't seem like he will participate in the series.”
The Men in Blue suffered heavy defeats at the hands of England in the npower Test series and the chances of avenging their loss in ODI’s with a second string squad is highly unlikely. With http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750’s frontline players like Gautam
Gambhir, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013’s chances of overhauling their opponent are boosted.
The second game of the five match series will be played at The Rose Bowl, Southampton on Tuesday, September 6.
