India’s tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750
Although South Africa has also been in good touch lately, India is playing absolutely fantastic cricket at the moment, in all forms of the game, and has certainly become a much more consistent team. Given that India has not lost
a Test series in over two years, the Indians’ chances in the upcoming series in South Africa seem much higher than the home team’s.
One area India need to work on, however, is their bowling. Although India have some great bowlers in their side, their attack is not usually as successful abroad as it is at home. But pacer Zaheer Khan may be able to change that.
Zaheer Khan has been playing for India for more than a decade, and is considered one of the team’s main strike bowlers. His role will be vital for India in the Test series, which starts on December 16th. Khan has always
been able to grab important wickets for India when playing against quality sides. It was Khan who helped India win their 2007 Test series in England; he took 18 wickets in that series and was named Man of the Series.
Khan has a knack for picking up early wickets in his spells and has been the sole reason for India’s success in a several matches. In India’s recent Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754, he performed exceptionally well and posed a lot
of trouble for the Kiwi batsmen. He played in two Tests in that series and took seven wickets in total.
Khan’s previous encounter with South Africa was a good one – he picked up 13 wickets in the series. A similar performance will be required from Khan in the upcoming series. South African conditions will most probably suit Khan’s
style of bowling. South African batsmen have an impressive record at home, but http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khan-c71319 may well exploit the pace in the pitches and make the batsmen comfortable from the get-go.
This is what has been missing from India’s bowling attack – bowlers who could make early breakthroughs. Khan, more than any other Indian bowler, is blessed with this attribute. He is also economical in his spells and does not give
much to the batsmen to hit at. If Khan can maintain his class in South Africa, than it will most certainly boost India’s chances in the series.
