Are we just playing this up JUST a little bit?

How many European migrants play our game and yet we don't see a European Round

The game has changed not only for the Aboriginal players but also other migrants who took up the game.

Jesalanko, Riccuito, Koutafides, Pavlich, Fevola does not sound like your Smiths and Jones

Lets take this game for what it is....its great....it unites all walks of life

  1. I do agree with you. But then again, almost all of us are immigrants when you think about it.

This match was originally known as the Kevin Sheedy Cup. Sheedy chose to dedicate this to the indigenous players of our great game, many who have had an uphill battle to make it to where they are today. He has spent a great deal of time working with young Aboriginal footballers. Having seen the hardship in some of the Aboriginal communities, he wanted to encourage something positive among them and to give them something to aspire to.

There are various cup games dedicated to different players during the season but I don't see anyone complaining about those! EJ Whitten is one that springs to mind and there are a number of others.

Sheedy had every right to unselfishly dedicate his cup round to the Indigenous Community. I say ten out of ten to him and all he has done for football.

  2. Aborigines were here before the European migrants so I think that's why they have and should have first preference to have a round dedicated to them.

It's only one round... Deal with it

  3. G'day Macca, mate it's just another way for the AFL to make money, as is the Anzac Day game,   that's got nothing to do with soldiers, a game of footy on Anzac Day shows disrespect not respect, but i watch it every year cause it's on.

Back to this game, the tiges are playing that's all i look at it as, as long as we win i don't care if they call it jippo week or indigenous round, whatever.

  4. Wouldn't worry about son, who is it really hurting, 10% of aboriginals play our game(their game too),  they are Aussies, it hurts no one.

On the other hand, the Anzac Day game is a farce, as a returned soldier who has seen action, i find it a bit of a slap in the gob mate,   if we have one 'holy' day so to speak, it should be anzac Day, Sport can have a day off as far as i'm concerned and besides i'm normally too sozzelled to watch any game by 2pm.  time for two up and beers with mates.

  5. I'm with you Macca - totally agree.

They want  everyone to be treated as equals yet these "unequal" events take place.

    Beats me!

  6. its just stupid

could you imagine a white fella round

  7. I agree with you.

Well said. This has been my view for quite a while now but I get howled down by various people because it is not politically correct to say such things.

As everyone keeps saying - "All should be treated as equals".

  8. I agree with you totally
