Question:

Individual Health Insurance HMO? Where can I find a plan?

I need to find health insurance that is a HMO in the state of Ohio. I want an HMO because I do NOT want a deductible. I just don't make enough money to pay for insurance and then pay for my health care...that's why I need insurance in the first place. I don't care if I have a co-pay though.

  1. Probably best to have a rest.looks like you can get some ideas here.

  2. Go to a local agent, and ask them for quotes.  For a no deductible HMO, if you're 20 and healthy, it's going to cost you about $200 a month.   $300 a month if you're 30 and healthy.   Plus that $25 per visit copay.

    Dental is a seperate policy.

  3. Don't be afraid of a deductible. Most individual policies will allow you the doctor visit and prescription co-pays without having to meet the deductible first. The deductible with a comprehensive individual major medical plan normally only comes into play if you have to go into the hospital. If the premium for a $500 deductible is $75 per month less than a $0 deductible you could be admitted to the hospital once every 7 months and still come out ahead on costs.

The deductible usually has nothing to do with the plan being and HMO. In my state I have HMOs and PPOs both with and without a deductible.

A visit to a local independent agent will allow you to compare plans and find the most cost effective plan in your area. You don't pay any extra using an agent.

  4. My agent is nationwide and they give you comparison quotes with 25+ companies to find you the best rate and plan that fits your needs.  You can find them at http://www.lvhealthins.com  They are really great to work with.
