Question:

Individual liberty and responsibility?

In times where taxes are imposed on an increasing number of goods and behaviours (cigarette tax, gas-guzzling tax, gas tax etc.) will there ever be a time where the main idea in America again is individual freedom and responsibility? Will anyone ever care about this anymore, or are we bound for more taxes and less freedom?

Do you think it's a good idea to tax and to not grant individual responsibility and freedom?

  1. I'm afraid we're on a slippery slope.

Once you go down the path of a baby-sitter government, it's very hard to turn back.

If we tried to roll back the social programs (both individual & corporate) that have been instituted over the last 80 years, there would be rioting in the streets.

People have become accustomed to receiving "freebies" from the government.  Try to take it away, and they think that you are taking something that actually belongs to them, instead of something that has been there to help them.

  2. As we move closer to globalism, yes we are moving to a lot less rights.

  3. Individual liberty cannot coexist along side Socialism. And as we move closer and closer to Socialist totalitarianism, individual liberty has to be sacrificed. Some of us have been screaming about this for years to no avail. Too many people in this world have been indoctrinated into Socialism by government run schools and are now demanding more and more "security" at the price of freedom.
