Wasim Akram, the former http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 skipper, is delighted to see the revival of Indo-Pak cricketing ties and expressed that the people of both the countries are eager to witness the thrilling encounters.
The neighbouring countries have not played any bilateral series since 2007-08, with the relations between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 Terror Attacks. Since then, no Pakistani player has taken part in the
Indian Premier League (IPL).
However, the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sialkot-c842 Stallions (Pakistan’s domestic T20 champions) for the forthcoming Champions League 2012, which will
be held in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 in October. This is the first time that a Pakistani team will take part in the illustrious tournament, if everything goes ahead smoothly.
On top of that, the two countries are all set to play a limited-overs series in December, which will consists of three One Day Internationals and two T20s.
Akram, who was the bowling coach of Kolkata Knight Riders in the fifth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and helped his side clinch the title, expressed that the people of India are also keen to see the Green Shirts
playing there.
"I frequently go to India and I know for a fact that the Indian people are as keen as we are for the bilateral series to resume as soon as possible. So it is a good thing that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 has invited us to play in India this year,"
the former Test captain said.
The former cricketer is considered to be one of the legends of the game and is also included in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Hall of Fame. With more than 900 international victims, Wasim is surely one of the role-models for the youngsters.
The former cricketer further added that he always loved to play against India because of the added pressure, which extracted the best out of the players from both the sides.
"Indo-Pak matches are more than cricket and that is what makes them so special every time the two teams play against each other," Akram added.
