Indo-Pak series in December gets Indian home ministry’s approval – Cricket News Update
India's Ministry of Home Affairs on Tuesday cleared a limited-overs tour by the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 team in December, prompting the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to give an “all ok” signal to their counterparts on the other side of the Wagah border.
The approval was given at a meeting between senior BCCI officials and the representatives of the home ministry. From BCCI, chief executive Sundar Raman, chief administrative officer Ratnakar Shetty and the IPL chairman Rajiv Shukla attended the meeting.
"We have discussed all security aspects (and) the tour is on," Shukla, the BCCI vice-president, told reporters after the meeting.
India and Pakistan have not played each other in a bilateral series since 2007, when the Men in Green toured http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 attacks, just a month before the series, led to the cancellation of the itinerary.
As per FTP (Future Tour Programme), it is Pakistan’s turn to host the bilateral series between the two, but considering the unsatisfactory law and order situation in the country, the Pakistan Cricket Board has agreed to play the much awaited series in India.
The decision to resume cricketing ties came after prolonged consultations between PCB and BCCI officials. The PCB chairman Zaka http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Srinivasan-c90829 also held several meetings before reaching a consensus over resumption of bilateral series.
The itinerary, which now needs only a formal announcement by the concerned boards, will comprise three One Day Internationals and two T20 Internationals, and will be played during the Christmas week and over the New Year, when touring England return home on a break. The matches will be hosted by Chennai, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780, Kolkata, Ahmedabad and Bangalore.
Pakistan cricket team is due to arrive in India on December 22 and the short limited overs series is likely to start on December 25 and run till January 7 next year, revealed Shukla. However, the detailed schedule is yet to be announced.
It is pertinent to mention here that since the India-Pakistan series is sandwiched between two legs of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c749’s tour of India, there is little room for flexibility.
