Indonesia Open 2012: A quarter-final spot for Jung Jae, Lee Yong in Men’s Doubles event
Korea made it to the quarter-final round of the Djarum Indonesia Open when their Men’s Doubles team of Jung Jae Sung-Lee Yong Dae defeated Gideon Markus Fernaldi-Agripinna Prima Rahmanto Putra on June 14, 2012.
This second round match was played at Istora Stadium of Jakarta and both teams entertained the local crowd with commendable craft for 55 minutes.
They pushed each other all the way to three gruelling sets and ended this race by registering final results of 21-13, 12-21 and 14-21.
Now the Koreans stand fair chance to advance into semi-finals as they will be up against a weak couple Thien How Hoon-Wee Kiong Tan in the round of eight.
Earlier in pre quarter-final tussle, Jung Jae and Lee Yong had a rough start but the first set loss did not damage their spirit and they blew away the opponents in last two games.
The Indonesian campaigners opened their marathon in a perfect manner and bagged first set of the match.
They remained under influence of higher ranked competitors in the start but couple of power packed rallies gave their confidence a great boost.
Initially, Gideon Markus-Agripinna Prima stayed grounded until 4-8 but they rose from the dust and pocketed six vital points in a row.
This uninterrupted campaign took them to a dominating total of 11 before the announcement of break and they entered in second half with great verve.
Later part of the game saw them moving forward at top gear as they swiftly reached at 16-12 and then registered 21-13 by gathering five consecutive points.
However, the Koreans woke up in time and made amends in very next game. First, they built pressure with 7-2 margin and then manipulated this situation to gain eight-point lead in 11-3.
Jung Jae and Lee Yong kept dictating their rivals after the break and levelled match score with notable difference in 21-12.
The World Number two duo did not show mercy in the decider and smacked their challengers down in similar fashion.
They set the ball rolling by grabbing first part with 11-7 and then seized the honour by entering a convincing total of 21-14.
