Indonesia Open 2012: Aprilla Yuswandari dominates Desi Hera in Women’s Singles event
Indonesia’s talented female shuttler Aprilla Yuswandari marched into second round of Djarum Indonesia Open after overwhelming Desi Hera in opening round on June 13, 2012.
Both compatriots remained head-to-head for 56 minutes and pushed each other all the way to final results of 15-21, 21-16 and 6-21.
Though, Aprilla passed this tough test in a distinctive manner but real challenge awaits her in pre quarter-final round where she will face either Indian lady Saina Nehwal or the Japanese shuttler Sayaka Sato.
However, she proved her guts in opening match of the event which was staged in Istora Senayan Stadium of Jakarta.
The Indonesian girl started the ball rolling by clinching very first set. She put the game in right momentum by grabbing four points in a row.
Aprilla maintained this upper hand despite of committing few unforced errors. She managed to gain slight edge in 11-10 total until half time.
After mid-game break, she strengthened her grip over game by adding four vital points without any interruption.
Though, she lost focus at 16-12 and allowed her challenger to narrow the gap but this phase was not that much long.
In final moments, Aprilla made difference by dominating three consecutive rallies and bagged first set with 21-15 score on the board.
Following game brought lot of surprises for the winning contender of previous set. This time the other Indonesian campaigner Desi Hera displayed amazing skills and successfully avoided a straight-set defeat.
She made her intentions clear straight away in the beginning when she established an unassailable lead in 11-5 before interval.
Later part of the game saw her competitor Aprilla sweating hard to counterbalance the situation but Desi ensured her dominance by putting 17-13 total. She swept the table with a notable five-point lead in concluding figure of 21-16.
However, she strangely proved sitting duck in the decider as Aprilla hunted her down with great ease.
She set the foundation of her victory by gaining a nine-point advantage until half time and then sealed a splendid win with a notable difference of 15 points in decisive margin of 21-6.
