Indonesia Open 2012: Kim Her satisfied over performance of Kien Keat, Boon Heong – Badminton News
Men’s Doubles team of Malaysia Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong took their country in quarter-finals of Djarum Indonesia Open and their coach Tan Kim Her appreciated their effort in this Premier Super Series event.
World Number eight pair outshined Angga Pratama-Ryan Agung Saputra of Indonesia in just two games.
They cleared second round of tournament by registering 21-14 and 21-17 score on the board.
Doubles chief coach Kim Her looked satisfied with their recent success as he declared this a breakthrough before 2012 London Olympics and hoped that they will continue this successful run in next rounds of the event.
He said, “Making the quarter-finals in Jakarta is a positive step in their Olympic preparations and I want them to carry on the good form by making the semi-finals next.”
The prime Malaysian duo stamped their supremacy in second round match and ensured their presence in top eight teams of tournament.
They set the foundation of this splendid win by dominating in first segment of the show. They did not allow their rival partnership to flourish and clinched opening match point with 21-14 margin.
Next game of contest proved decider as Indonesian couple again got pale in front of their higher ranked challengers.
Kien Keat and Boon Heong forged fruitful chemistry and sealed a straight-set victory with concluding figure of 21-17.
The badminton guru Kim Her believes this timely win will boost their confidence for upcoming mega event.
He also praised their efforts to end long streak of failures as Angga Pratama-Ryan Agung had overpowered them in last two meetings in Axiata Cup and India Open.
He said, “It’s certainly a good sign given that the Olympics is so near. I’m happy that they did well to beat the young Indonesian pair who had beaten them twice this year. It was good for their morale.”
London Olympics will in full swing from July 27, 2012 and Kim Her expects them to make few strong bids in the arena in coming six weeks.
However, their immediate challenge is to end Indonesia Open in a respectable manner as now they are scheduled to meet Thai contenders Patipat Chalardchalearm-Nipitphon Puangpuapech in quarter-final round of the event.
