Indonesia Open 2012: Wen Hsing, Yu Chin enter Women’s Doubles pre quarter-finals
Women’s Doubles campaigners Cheng Wen Hsing-Chien Yu Chin of Chinese Taipei stamped Shella Devi Aulia-Anggia Shitta Awanda and trod into pre quarter-finals of Djarum Indonesia Open on June 13, 2012.
This first round match lasted for 46 minutes and both teams played with great conviction to put final results of 21-19, 18-21 and 18-21.
The Taipei ladies ruled the court after getting down in opening segment of encounter but their next challenge is even more difficult as they are scheduled to meet World Number two pair Tian Qing-Zhao Yunlei in next round.
Earlier, the first set of the match belonged to low ranked Shella Devi-Anggia Shitta who performed beyond expectations against superior opponents.
They made their intentions clear after grabbing three consecutive points straight away in the beginning and then maintained this upper hand all the way to last stage.
Though, their challengers did not allow them to establish a significant lead but still they manage to remain one or two step ahead until half time.
Later part of the game also proved close competition as both contenders kept chasing each other until game point situation.
This nerve-racking tussle ended when Indonesians made a decisive difference of two points in concluding margin of 21-19.
The following game changed the scenario as the losing duo of previous game switched on the best and turned the tables.
World Number 11 pair Wen Hsing-Yu Chin did not waste time and launched an intensive attack. Their backlash was so strong that Indonesian defence could not resist for much long and collapsed.
In first half of the set, the Taipei campaigners got into commanding position with 11-7 but they lost grip right after the break.
Women’s Doubles partners Shella Devi-Anggia Shitta make best out of this opportunity and levelled score at 13-13 but it was not enough to avoid 18-21 defeat.
Third and final was played in same fashion like previous set and it also yielded similar results. The twosome of Wen Hsing and Yu Chin took some time to get in proper motion as they were at lower side with 7-11 until mid-game break.
Later part saw them hammering the opponents with six consecutive points which ultimately helped them to seal a splendid 21-18 victory.
