Indonesia Open: Ajay Jayaram trounces Viktor Axelsen to ease into Men’s Singles second round
India’s young player Ajay Jayaram showed his class in front of Indonesian crowd as he reached into Men’s Singles second round after trouncing his higher ranked opponent Viktor Axelsen of Denmark in the opening round contest at Indonesia Open Premier Super
Series 2012 on Wednesday, June 13, in Indonesia.
The World Number 25 Jayaram, who has been earning impressive results in major international tournaments for the last one year, established his supremacy in the court and easily toppled Axelsen who is currently World Number 22.
The lower ranked Jayaram worked really well in the court as he played impressive badminton throughout the battle to stamp his superiority over his Danish rival in a sensational fashion by finishing the match in straight games.
On the other hand, the higher ranked Danish shuttler tried to play his normal game but failed to cope up with the aggressive and perfect play of his Indian opponent and lost the match without taking any set.
Jayaram was in a completely different mood while playing against the talented Danish as he played with aggression to take an early lead and also remained successful in pushing his opponent on the back foot.
In the meanwhile, Viktor also played fast game and remained close to his spirited Indian opponent until the one-minute interval.
After the break, Jayaram showed his elite skills as he stretched the gap on the score board by playing to his maximum potential and remained successful in clinching the opening set in a superb fashion by putting up 21-16 score on the board.
In the second game, Viktor played positive badminton while remaining focused and did not let the Indian to take a comfortable lead in the opening half.
Jayaram, on the other hand, failed to play dominating badminton this time as his rival was everywhere in the court.
The score reached at 14-14 when Jayaram displayed a staggering show and grabbed seven points in a row to take the set with a superb 21-14 score on the board.
The in-form Jayaram ousted Viktor at first round stage by winning the fight with a stunning difference of 21-16 and 21-14.
