China’s aggressive play Du Pengyu showed his class when he qualified for Men’s Singles quarter-final after ending the gutsy run of Indonesia’s Sony Dwi Kuncoro at the quarter-final stage in Indonesia Open Premier Super Series 2012 in Indonesia, on Friday,
June 15.

The higher ranked Pengyu played with wonderful spirit and overpowered his lower ranked Indonesia opponent in straight games with a superb score on the board while taking 52 minutes in the court.
On the other hand, the impressive Kuncoro failed to continue his roller-coaster performance as he became physically fatigued as he remained busy for the last ten days in playing top quality badminton.
The Indonesian gave a good fight in the opening parts of both games but failed to maintain his speed with the pace of rallies and eventually bowed down to his higher ranked Chinese rival with a comfortable margin.
In the first set, both men showed a wonderful display of top class badminton by playing attacking game and remained close until the one-minute interval.
After the break, Kuncoro was leading the game by reaching at 14-13 when Pengyu showed his class and scored eight consecutive points to grab the set with a superb margin of 21-14.
In the second game, Kuncoro again played with precision and also worked well at net which helped him to set up an early lead of 9-4.
However, he was visibly fatigued which helped his rival to narrow the score. Until the break, the Indonesian was slightly ahead of Pengyu by reaching at 11-9.
After the break, both shuttlers played well by keeping the pace high and reached at s13-13 when the Chinese got the control of rallies and started to dictate his rival in all areas of the court.
Pengyu was fully focused and his defence was impressive which helped him to take the second game with a 21-15 score on the board.
