Indonesia Open GP Gold: Alamsyah Yunus narrowly beats Adi Pratama in Men’s Singles second round
Alamsyah Yunus, a young and impressive shuttler from Indonesia, had to dig into his reserves to overpower his talented team-mate Adi Pratama in the Men’s Singles second round at the Indonesia Open GP Gold Badminton 2012 in Indonesia, on Wednesday, September
26.
The sixth seeded Yunus, who has been positioned at number 27 in Men’s Singles world placements, worked really hard on court and employed his experience to overpower Pratama in a spectacular three-set contest.
Yunus had a poor start in opening set but he found his way back into the match by taking the second set. He remained aggressive in the deciding game and won it to end up the fight in rubber games with a decent margin.
In the meanwhile, the un-seeded Pratama made his presence strongly felt to the world by putting up remarkable show and snatched the opening game.
Nevertheless, the young Pratama failed to tackle the planned and aggressive play of his higher ranked compatriot and lost the following games and crashed out in 63 minutes.
In the first game, Yunus received a shocking treatment when his lower ranked opponent played flawless badminton and remained slightly ahead in opening half.
After the break, the sixth seeded Yunus played to his maximum potential but failed to stop his rival and eventually lost the set with a 13-21 score on the board.
In the second set, Yunus played better badminton and remained aggressive on court which helped him to put his rival on back foot.
The experienced Yunus played dominating game in the concluding points of second set and won it with a three-point advantage of 21-18.
The deciding game was absolutely thrilling when both players remained neck-to-neck until the end of opening half.
After the interval, Yunus controlled the pace of rallies and managed to remain in control of the pace. He did not commit mistakes in the concluding phase and took the set with a reasonable difference of 21-17.
Yunus remained successful in winning this thrilling battle in three games by taking 63 minutes with an interesting 13-21, 21-18 and 21-17 score on the board.
