Japan’s emerging player Sayaka Takahashi proved her superiority in the arena as she advanced into Women’s Singles second round by throwing out her Indonesian rival Milicent Wiranto in first round showdown at Indonesia Open Grand Prix Gold Badminton 2012
in Indonesia, on Wednesday, September 26.
The lofty Sayaka, who has been playing competitive badminton at international level for the last few months, found a perfect start in the tournament as she easily sent Milicent packing in opening round contest.
Japanese shuttler played with precision and did not let her challenger to play attacking badminton. She wrapped up victory by finishing up the match in two sets with a dominating difference on score board.
On the contrary, Milicent played good badminton in opening set but failed to dictate the pace of rallies when it mattered most.
Indonesian shuttler was helpless in the second game against the flawless play of Sayaka and lost the contest in just 32 minutes.
In the starting points, both players put in extra effort to take an early advantage in opening game but no one could manage it until 5-5.
Sayaka changed her tactical play by accelerating her speed and started to push her rival on back foot by playing attacking badminton which helped her to establish a reasonable lead of 11-8 until the break.
After the mid-game interval, the local shuttler geared up her speed and managed to level the score at 12-12.
The score progressed in a tight fashion at this stage but Sayaka geared up her speed in the ending points and took the grabbed the set with a 21-17 score on the board.
Sayaka was everywhere in the following game as she played aggressive badminton from opening points and established a wonderful lead of 11-3 until the end of first half.
After the one-minute break, Sayaka continued her tremendous performance as she did not commit any mistake. Her flawless play in the concluding set kept Milicent under huge pressure.
Sayaka finished up the second game in an inspiring fashion with a huge 21-10 score on the board.
The Japanese player emerged as the winner in this Women’s Singles clash with a completely authoritative margin of 21-17 and 21-10.
