Indonesia Open Premier Super Series: Du Pengyu tames Hsu Jen Hao in Men’s Singles round-of-16
China’s young player Du Pengyu proved his superior class in the court as he easily registered as inspiring victory over Hsu Jen Hao of Chinese Taipei at the Men’s Singles round-of-16 in Indonesia Open Premier Super Series 2012 at Jakarta, Indonesia, on Thursday,
June 14.
The World Number 10 Pengyu, who is eighth seeded shuttler in Men’s Singles draw of the championship, was in full control in the court and overpowered the Taipei opponent in straight games in an elevated fashion.
The higher ranked Pengyu played attacking badminton in the whole clash and managed to beat his rival in two sets by taking 60 minutes in the court.
On the other hand, the World Number 24 Jen Hao showed his brilliance by playing aggressive badminton in opening set and lost it with narrow margin. However, he failed to play well in the second set and lost to his Chinese rival without clinching any set.
The match started in a thrilling way as the spirited Chinese showed his superb skills and took seven consecutive points to set up an impressive 7-0 lead on the score board.
However, Jen Hao started to play positive and flat shots to keep his rival on the back foot. He got confidence and played to his maximum potential to narrow the gap until the one-minute interval.
After the one-minute break, both shuttlers played at the same level and progressed on the board without managing a reasonable lead until the ending points when Pengyu showed his brilliance and played smashing badminton to take the set with a 21-19 score
on the board.
In the second game, Taipei shutter played dominating badminton in opening rallies but failed to continue his aggressive run and remained behind at 7-11 on the score board.
After the break, the Chinese continued his power play without showing any mercy to his Taipei opponent. He was flawless in the execution of shots and easily bagged the second game with a superb margin of 21-14.
The higher ranked Pengyu won this pre-quarter-final clash in straight sets with a 21-19 and 21-14 score on the board.
