Indonesia Open Premier Super Series: Parupalli Kashyap powers his way into Men’s Singles semi-final
India’s aggressive player Parupalli Kashyap continued his staggering run and powered his way into Men’s Singles semi-final after crushing Denmark’s Hans Kristian Vittinghus at quarter-final stage of Indonesia Open Premier Super Series 2012 at Jakarta, Indonesia,
on Friday, June 15.
The World Number 26 Kashyap, who is playing the best badminton of his professional career and also reached in his first semi-final in a Premier Super Series tournament, showed his class while playing against his higher ranked Danish rival and grabbed victory
in a tremendous fashion.
The in-form Kashyap was on a different level as he ousted the World Number 16 Vittinghus by ending the quarter-final fight in straight games with a comprehensive margin on the score board.
In the meanwhile, the higher ranked Vittinghus could not maintain his positive performance in the event and also remained unable to cope up with the aggressive run on his India opponent. The Danish lost the battle in two games without showing his brilliance
in the court.
In the first game, Kashyap showed his magical skills by playing to his maximum speed and remained focused.
The Indian was quite positive in the execution of strokes and eventually took a reasonable lead against his spirited Danish rival by reaching at 11-8 until the break.
After the break, Kashyap continued his positive performance without slowing down his speed and also did not let his challenger to catch up the deficit at any stage.
The Indian shuttler won the opening game with a surprising margin of 21-15 without facing tough opposition.
In the second game, Vittinghus also played positive badminton in opening half and also progressed closely to his in-form Indian opponent until the one-minute break.
However, after taking rest for one-minute, Kashyap geared up his speed and played impressive shots at net which helped him to get weak returns and he did not miss any chance to finish rallies.
Kashyap was in full command in the court and managed to win the set with a 21-14 score on the board.
The Indian shuttler emerged as victorious against Vittinghus in straight sets with a smashing margin of 21-15 and 21-14.
