Indonesia Open: Simon Santoso tames Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka in Men’s Singles quarter-final
Indonesia’s top player Simon Santoso showed his impressive craft in the court and reached into Men’s Singles semi-final after taming his compatriot Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka in quarter-final showdown at Indonesia Open Premier Super Series 2012 in Jakarta,
on Friday, June 15.
The World Number 9 Santoso, who is seventh seed in Men’s Singles main round of the tournament, did not get into a critical situation throughout the match and easily won it in an elevated fashion.
The higher ranked Indonesian was in complete control of rallies while playing against the World Number 21 Rumbaka and registered a comprehensive victory over him in straight sets by taking just 39 minutes in the court.
On the other hand, the lower ranked Rumbaka showed glimpses of his brilliance in the opening game but failed to maintain his focus in the second set and lost to his team-mate with a comfortable difference on the score board.
In the opening set, Simon took a small lead at the early stage but Rumbaka also remained slightly behind on the board.
The powerful smashes of Rumbaka troubles Santoso throughout the opening game but the seven seeded Indonesian changed his tactics and managed to take a reasonable lead until the one-minute break.
After the interval, Santoso continued his focused and elevated play in the tournament and did not make unforced errors in the whole ending phase.
Santoso remained ahead of Rumbaka in the whole competition and managed to win the set with a 21-17 score on the board.
In the second game, Santoso showed his class as he did not let his rival to put up strong resistance and took an impressive lead on the score board until the mid-game break.
After the one-minute break, the higher ranked Indonesian continued his commanding and dominating performance without facing any considerable opposition from his lower ranked compatriot.
The in-form Santoso won the second game in a staggering way by a completely one-sided 21-7 score on the board.
Santoso advanced into semi-final of Indonesia open by winning the quarter-final battle in straight games with a tremendous margin of 21-17 and 21-7.
