Indonesia finishes off classification round with success - Volleyball news
The men’s national volleyball team of Indonesia exhibited an impressive performance and secured the top spot in Pool H of classification round at 2011 Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship. The tournament successfully covered the first two rounds on Monday,
while the teams will now enter the crucial final round. Indonesia failed to create a huge buzz in the first round but staged a great fight in the second round. They remained un-beaten and clawed their way to the top position.
In the last match on Monday, September 26, Indonesia was challenged by Qatar. The Indonesian had a tough competition with the rival side but managed to grab a 3-1 (23-25, 28-26, 25-22, 25-17) victory in the end. Success enabled Indoensia to play at the quarter-finals
for 9-12 positions. The INA team will return to action on Wednesday when they will take on Thailand.
Match overview
The two competitors started out tentatively, with Qatar edging an early lead over Indonesia. Sadikh Ndir of Qatar offered some hard-spiking to Indonesians and raised his own team’s score. Affan Priyo of Indonesia put up against early strike of volleys from
the opponent. He got his hands on the difficult shots and saved crucial points by dismissing many of the opponents’ attacks. In the meanwhile, Indonesia also used the offensive attack and responded Qatar in the same tone. Meanwhile, the score experienced frequent
ups and downs. Both sides traded lead but situation remained undecided until the set points. The even play finally reached an end as Qatar scored the last two points and sealed first set win at 25-23.
After dropping the opening set, raged up Indonesian men threw almost everything in attack. They formed new combinations and came from different angles. They downed the rivals with impressive display of fine attack attempts and flawless defence. Indonesia
seemed to be at its best in the second set. Despite facing tons of resistance form Qatar, they kept going on and on. The exchange of long rallies created a great vibe in the game, which spectators thoroughly enjoyed. Qatar’s John Chigbo helped his team stay
unruffled in front of the Indonesians. He put away nice shots and did not give an easy time to Indonesia. Second set slightly inched its way to the end-line but this time Indonesia took the advantage of set points. Indonesians closed off second set at 28-26
and levelled the game score.
Indonesia continued its dominance at the net with signature attacks in third set. They pushed the opponent behind the attack line and put pressure on them. Qatar showed some spirit to stay out of the blues but Indonesia capitalized with the help of outside
hitters Nyoman and Rizalayip. Qatar slipped third set by trailing behind with three points 22-25.
The lead of 2-1 allowed Indonesia to take full control of the game in fourth set. They hit the mark with 25-17 victory in fourth set and pulled off success in the last match of second round.
